Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,who is leading an official delegation to Dubai and Turkey to study new urbanisation models,the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and solid waste management systems,concluded his two-day visit to Dubai on Tuesday.
During the visit he had extensive discussions with two major urban developers in Dubai EMAAR and Nakeel,a state government press release said on
The team also had an in-depth study of the new urban parameters and building controls which help in vertical development,it added.
It also studied the model of mixed multiple use of the buildings as commercial,hotel,residential. Badal also visited the new Media City,IT City,Academic City so that the team could replicate these concepts in Edu City being planned in New Chandigarh and the IT City at Mohali.
The delegation had day-long meetings with Nakeel,the company of Palm Jumeirah fame,where land has been reclaimed for a water-front city.
The teams visit to Nakeel was to get insight for the Tourist City being planned at Mattewara (Ludhiana) that would include Jungle Safari and Adventure Sports Hub.
The deputy chief minister said that the visit was significant as various development agencies in Punjab were planning projects on these lines.
