Steep honorarium hike for ZP,panchayat samiti office bearers

The Maharashtra government has allowed a hefty increase in the honorarium of Zilla Parishad presidents,panchayat samiti chairpersons and heads of various committees in Zilla Parishads,officials said on Saturday.

The honorarium of Zilla Parishad presidents has been quadrupled from Rs 5,000 per month to Rs 20,000 while ZP vice-presidents will now get Rs 15,000,almost a four-fold increase from the Rs 4,000 they receive now,they said.

Heads of committees in the Zilla Parishads will get Rs 12,000 per month,thrice the amount they receive now. Panchayat samiti chairpersons’ honorarium has been increased over three-fold from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 while deputy chairpersons will receive Rs 8,000,six times the amount of Rs 1,500 they are paid at present.
