The Haryana Assembly on Thursday declared as lapsed an adjournment motion submitted by the Opposition INLD to discuss alleged irregularities committed in a land deal between a company owned by Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and realty giant DLF.
As Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala made a reference to the issue,Speaker Kuldeep Sharma interrupted him, saying,This motion has already lapsed. The announcement came minutes after Sharma named and suspended all 27 INLD legislators and one Akali Dal MLA for the second day for raising a storm against the treasury benchs adjournment motion over INLD chief Om Prakash Chautalas continuance as Leader of the Opposition.
Earlier, after the question hour, the Speaker asked Congress member Sampat Singh to move the Chautala motion,at which the INLD members started raising slogans of tanashahi nahi chalegi.
Amid the ruckus,Surjewala questioned the INLDs protest. They (INLD) are organising rallies on the issue and daring the chief minister to a debate, then why are they objecting to discussing it in the House, he said.
Justifying the introduction of the motion,Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, said,We wont discuss the (sub-judice) JBT scam but why should we not discuss accountability and transparency in political life?
On this,INLD member Ram Pal Majra said the motion was in violation of rules hence cannot be discussed in the House. We submitted a motion on Skylight Hospitality ( Vadras firm) but the government is not discussing it.
Hooda said the treasury will discuss the Vadra motion ,but the Chautala issue needs to be taken up first. Another Congress member,Raghuvir Singh Kadian, said There was an administrative-politico nexus that has resulted in the JBT scam and it has brought a disgrace to the state.
On this Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala and all the other INLD members started speaking at once creating a din. The Speaker then adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
Later, when the House assembled,INLD member Ashok Arora alleged that one of their members had been threatened following which the INLD members started protesting.
The Speaker then had a heated exchange with Abhay, after which the Speaker ordered the Marshall to remove him from the House. The INLD members surrounded Abhay. The Speaker then named and suspended all the INLD member. The Opposition members, finally left the House on their own.
