A day after an FIR was registered against Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg and his parents — K K Garg and Rachna Garg — over the death of his wife Geetanjali,the Special Investigation Team (SIT) interrogated the CJM and conducted a search at his house.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said: “The SIT,under ACP Ashok Bakshi,interrogated CJM Ravneet Garg for more than four hours on Saturday night. The team also went to the crime spot to locate the bullets which had killed Geeranjali. They will conduct an reconnaissance of the spot on Monday.”
Mittal said SIT and Crime Branch officers searched the CJM residence for hours. They took with them three laptops,a gun case,gun license,bullets and a mobile phone to investigate.”
The CJM had told police that he was shocked over his wife’s death and that he had no role to play in it.
He said he was in a Gurgaon court when his wife went missing. He also told police that he suspected the involvement of two other persons.
Ravneet Garg’s cousin,who was in the house when Geetanjali had gone missing,was also questioned,a senior police officer said.
Geetanjali’s father Omprakash Agrawal said: “We have asked for a CBI inquiry. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has given us full assurance that if the family feels the current investigation is not sufficient,the CBI will be brought in to investigate the case.”
On Saturday,Geetanjali’s brother Pradeep Agrawal had alleged in the FIR that his sister was being harassed by her husband and in-laws… He had also alleged the CJM’s family had barred Geetanjali from meeting her family.
