Breaking his silence over recent outbursts of BJP MP from Amritsar,Navjot Singh Sidhu, against the SAD-BJP coalition in the state,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday claimed the MP might be indulging in political match fixing.
Mera hi nan japda rehnda si pehlan, hun pata nahi ki hoya. Koyee match fixing te nahi ho gayi ? (Earlier,he used to chant my name only. I dont know what has happened to him now. Is there any match fixing? Badal told mediaperons, while adding that even Sidhus own party,BJP,was not on same page with him.
Trashing Sidhus allegations that funds for development works in Amritsar were being diverted to other areas,Badal said: I helped Sidhu win by nearly 20,000 votes in each of the Assembly segments of the Lok Sabha constituency of Amritsar.
Sidhus remarks will do no harm to the prospects of SAD-BJP coalition in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. People will not decide whom to vote for on what Sidhu or I say. They will take into account the non-performance (of UPA) in last 10 years, he added.
When contacted,Sidhu said: I too had participated in 200 rallies for the CM. I had participated in those rallies where Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal was not present. I never discriminated between an Akali or BJP worker.
I am not answerable. I am looking for answers. I still need answers why different projects were hanging fire in Amritsar. Why the city bus service that was started in other cities not started in Amritsar, plus the solid waste management project and diversion of Amritsar Improvement Trust funds…, he added.
Claiming that SAD and BJP were treating him and his wife,Amritsar MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu,as untouchables,Sidhu said: No Akali leader was present when my wife inaugurated development works in Amritsar. On Wednesday, she inaugurated development works worth Rs 40 lakh in Maqbool Pura area of Amritsar East constituency.
