Kaushik Bora, an executive director of Assam Oil Division (AOD) of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), has gone missing Sunday from near the Digboi Refinery in Upper Assam, about 530 km from here. His personal car was found abandoned about 10 km from Digboi.

Bora, currently number 2 in the 114-year old Digboi Refinery, had gone out from his official residence in the refinery township around 10.30 am and was later reported missing by his family around 4 pm, Tinsukia district SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh said over the telephone.

“The officer’s personal car was found abandoned near Pengeri on the Digboi-Pengeri-Bordumsa Road, about 10 km from Digboi. While his mobile phone has remained switched off, no group or organisation has claimed responsibility for any abduction,” SP Singh said.

Bora (57), who is provided with an official vehicle and a driver by the public sector oil company, had no business whatsoever to go towards Pengeri and that too on a Sunday, the SP said. The Digboi-Pengeri-Bordumsa Road, however, is infested by both dacoits as well as ULFA militants.
