The SAD on Monday termed the much publicised mass contact programme of the Punjab Congress as a “grand failure” and “indicative of the crushing defeat the party was going to face in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls”. SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema claimed that Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa has come to know what kind of support he enjoys from his senior colleagues and his popularity among the people. “It is surprising that not a single senior leader of the Congress joined Bajwa at the onset of mass contact programmes held in a marriage palace. Neither any former chief minister nor any former president participated in today’s show. Even the leader of the Opposition preferred to stay away from the much hyped programme,” said Cheema. “This has exposed that the Congress leadership was scared of facing the wrath of the people, keeping in view the massive scams of the UPA government and unprecedented inflation,” he added. Cheema further said that tone and tenor of the speeches delivered at Monday’s function revealed that Congress has no positive agenda for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
