Investigations into the murders of Yogendra Pratap Singh Chauhan, his wife Rekha and their 22-year-old daughter Karishma aka Rosie have led police to suspect that Rosie witnessed her mother’s murder, before she was also strangled to death.

Chauhan was found dead on the ground floor of his B7/75 house in Sector-17,Rohini,on Friday morning. The bodies of his wife and daughter were found on the first floor of the house, where the family had been living for the past 20 years.

Rekha was found lying face-down on the bed, while Rosie was tied to the iron grill of the bedroom’s window, sources told Newsline. Post-mortem reports said Chauhan and Rekha were attacked by a “blunt object”,and Rosie was strangled.

The reports put the time of death around midnight.

Sources said bloodstains were found on the bedsheet and pillow lying near Chauhan’s body. Rekha had injury marks on her head and neck. She was tied with a sari. The bed, which Rekha’s body was found, had bloodstains.

Rosie had a sari around her neck, and she was tied to the window, sources said. She had injury marks on her mouth, face, forehead and head. The walls,a wooden table and a cot next to Rosie’s body and a phone were covered with blood, police said.

A broken piece of wire was also found on the table, sources said.

Investigators suspect Rosie must have resisted her attackers as she has several injury marks on her body.

Till now, more than 200 people have been questioned in the case, including friends and relatives and all the names that figured on the call records of Chauhan’s and Rosie’s cellphones.

The cellphones and a laptop were missing from the home, when police reached on Friday. It was suspected that the attackers could have taken them to destroy evidence.

On Saturday, police traced one of the cellphones to Samaipur Badli and picked one person for questioning. He told police that he found the cellphone “lying around” and put in his SIM card in it.

Police claim they now have crucial leads to solve the case. They suspect more than one person was involved in the murder.

The clothes of the three victims have been sent for forensic examination.
