The controversy over multi-layered MPPEB scam brought an abrupt end to the Budget session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Thursday, 29 days ahead of its schedule.

The session, earlier scheduled for February 18 – March 27, had started under the shadow of allegations against Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, against whom an FIR was eventually lodged Tuesday for his alleged role in the examination and recruitment scam.

Opposition Congress had also accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of ordering manipulation of evidence to save him and implicate his rivals.

MP Governor  seeks to meet Pranab
Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, whose fate is hanging fire after an FIR was registered against him in the MPPEB scam, flew to New Delhi on Thursday to attend the wedding of Lalu Prasad’s daughter and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grand nephew. The octogenarian, who has sought an appointment with the President on Friday, is likely to return to Bhopal on Saturday. Sources in Raj Bhavan said the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister appears to be in a mood to dig in his heels arguing that the charges against him were not serious.
