Residents of an Aizawl neighbourhood said they would not allow a man, who is accused of murdering five members of a family 10 days ago, enter their area and also demanded capital punishment for him.

In a statement issued over the weekend by the Joint Action Committee of Republic Veng, also removed the residential privileges to 37-year-old Laltlanchhuaha, who is accused of hacking five members of a family to death on January 9.

Currently in judicial custody, he has claimed before a court that he committed the murders in a fit of rage over a wage dispute, but his own family has rejected this saying he never worked at his victims’ home and they did not owe him any money.
