Recover land from China, Pak and I will garland you, Mulayam tells Modi

The SP chief also welcomed Modi’s efforts to mend relations with China and Pakistan but warned that China is deceitful.

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Monday that he is ready to garland Prime Minister Narendra Modi if the latter recovers encroached land from the possession of China and Pakistan.

Mulayam, who was addressing an election meeting at Ramleela ground in Etawah’s Jaswant Nagar ahead of the bypoll on Mainpuri seat, said: “I will not only congratulate Modi but also garland and welcome him if he recovers Indian territory in possession of Pakistan and China.”

The SP chief also welcomed Modi’s efforts to mend relations with China and Pakistan but warned that China is deceitful. “China is the biggest cheater in the world. It betrayed Nehru while giving slogan of Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai. Nehru died from that shock. Modi will not be successful in mending relations with China,” Mulayam said.

He added that while Pakistan has occupied a part of Kashmir, China has captured nearly one lakh square kilometre of Indian soil.

Mulayam was campaigning for his grandnephew Tej Pratap Singh who is contesting from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. He added that the decision to give up Mainpuri and retain Azamgarh, after he won both seats in the LS polls, was taken owing to pressure from Poorvanchal. “There was pressure from you all to retain Azamgarh. I vacated Mainpuri and fielded Tej Pratap on your demand. The election (result) is now in your hands,” he said.

Mulayam appealed in Jaswant Nagar that voters should break his record lead of 1.84 lakh votes from Gunnaur Assembly seat. Mulayam’s ancestral village, Saifai, too, falls under Jaswant Nagar.

Mulayam also claimed that the PM is very “chalaak (clever)” and is trying to polish his political image in the world. “After Nawaz Sharif attended Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, there is turmoil in Pakistan. Now even Sharif is regretting coming to India,” he stated.

Mulayam also said Modi had failed to usher in “achche din in 100 days”. He also cited inflation and poor condition of farmers in Gujarat.
