A college unit of Kerala Students Union, student outfit of Congress, on Tuesday passed a resolution terming AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s “life in exile as a shameful situation.’’

The resolution was presented by the KSU unit at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam in the presence of Congress state vice-president V D Satheeshan and former NSU president Hybi Eden.

It said the person who should lead the party from the front has gone into hiding. It is extremely deplorable that the Congress vice-president had gone into “hiding’’ without informing anyone when the crucial budget session of the Parliament is going on. When political opponents enquire about our leader, we have no option but to escape.

The resolution said doubts have come up about whether the party has failed in explaining the intention behind Gandhi’s life in exile. The party leadership could not give a convincing answer to why Gandhi went on leave. Party should be rescued from this shameful situation, said the KSU.

KSU Ernakulam district president Tito Antony said the organisation has sought an explanation from the college unit on the resolution against Rahul Gandhi.
