Shiv Sena’s Lok Sabha campaign in Goa will include a protest against the class seven NCERT history textbook which the party claims has completely ignored Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Shiv Sena, which is contesting on both Lok Sabha seats in the state, has alleged that the textbook, being used to teach students in Goa and Maharashtra, has completely ignored Shivaji.
The book has covered Shivaji Maharaj in mere four lines while there are lengthy chapters glorifying Muslim rulers like Babar,Humayun,Akbar,Jehangir,Shahjahan and Aurangzeb,Goa Shiv Sena Chief Upendra Gaonkar said in Panaji.
Gaonkar is contesting from North Goa while Namdeo Naik is the Sena’s South Goa contender.
“We want genuine Members of Parliament at the Centre who will work to curb such illegal, illogical and unethical conduct like ignoring the great Maratha warrior, who is an inspiration to generations,” Gaonkar said.
