Promised better job,call centre staffer raped by 4 men

A 24-year-old employee of a call centre was allegedly gangraped by four men in Badarpur,Southeast Delhi,last Sunday.

A 24-year-old employee of a call centre was allegedly gangraped by four men in Badarpur,Southeast Delhi,last Sunday.

A case was registered on Tuesday evening.

Police sources said the woman,who is married,was lured by one of the men who promised her a job in another call centre and asked her to accompany him to the interview.

Two of the four accused have been arrested.

Police said Suraj,the main accused,told the woman that he knew people who could get her a better-paying job. He asked her to come with him to the Mohan Co-operative Industrial Area and meet senior company officials,a source said.

Suraj took her to a factory where he said he had arranged an interview with a senior company official,police said.

As they entered the building,police said,she found that it was deserted,except for three of Suraj’s friends.

The woman alleged that Suraj and his friends forcibly took her inside the factory and raped her. She said they threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident,a police source said.

After somehow managing to reach home,she told her husband about what had happened. He approached police and filed a complaint.

A medical examination confirmed rape,police said.

Police raided the places frequented by the men.

Other than Suraj,one Deepu was arrested,police said.

“We have arrested the main accused and his friend. The other two are at large. They have been identified and a hunt is on to nab them. One of the accused works in the factory where the crime was committed,” a senior police officer said.
