The organisers of ‘AIB Knockout’ allegedly submitted a script of the show to the state Directorate of Cultural Affairs but did not stick to it during the live performance, police sources said. This alleged discrepancy is now being probed by Mumbai Police.
Days before the December 20, 2014, the live show, the organisers ‘Only Much Louder’ (the firm that also produces the NH7 Weekender music festival) had obtained an NOC from the Rangbhoomi Prayog Parinirikshan Mandal, a wing of the Department of Cultural Affairs, which is the nodal authority for granting performance licenses for stage shows.
“It has emerged during investigation that the organisers submitted a script to the Mandal, but that version of the act is very different from the actual enactment uploaded on YouTube, which was extempore,” confirmed a senior Mumbai Police officer. Citing the improvisational nature of the show, the officer said that the organisers had obtained all licenses from several agencies to go ahead with the show, but “misrepresented” those licenses.
