President Pranab Mukherjee has consented to address the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in its Golden Jubilee year.
Speaker B B Butail said he was conveyed the presidents acceptance when he met Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhawan last week. The House will begin its firs budget session on Tuesday.
Butail said: Now,I have written to the government about plans being drawn-up by Vidhan Sabha secretariat. The President may address the House during the upcoming session,dates for which will be finalised very soon.
At a meeting of the Press Gallery Committee,Butail said it will be the second time in recent years when legislators will get the opportunity to listen to the President. Earlier Dr APJ Abdul Kalam had also addressed the House.
