The police station officer (PSO) of Bagvadar in Porbandar was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) after he was allegedly caught taking Rs 1,000 bribe on Thursday in the police station itself.
Girish Bhadarka, PSO of Bagvadar police station, was arrested by in-charge ACB police inspector Ramde Bheda of Porbandar at 7:45 am on Thursday after he was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from one Sanjay Devraniya. Later on, ACB sleuths conducted search at Bhadraka’s residence but did not find anything incriminating.

“Bagvadar police had arrested Devraniya’s brother-in-law Lakhabhai Sundvadra on Tuesday in a case of Prohibition. However, when Devraniya went to the police station to meet his brother-in-law, Bhadrka demanded Rs 1,000 to allow him to see Sundvadra who was in lock-up,” Bheda told The Indian Express.
Devraniya, a resident of Porbandar town, agreed to pay the bribe after he was allowed a meeting with his relative, ACB said. However, instead of paying up, he filed a complaint with ACB police station in Porbandar on Wednesday.
“Bhadarka, who is an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, called up Devraniya on Thursday and reminded him about the Rs 1,000 bribe that the latter had committed. We laid a trap and as soon as the ASI accepted the bribe money, he was arrested from the police station itself,” the ACB police inspector further said.
The ACB has seized Rs 1,000 cash which was paid as bribe and has booked Bhadarka under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
