An inauguration plaque of a water project bearing the name of Punjab Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur was found demolished in Dheerpur village on Tuesday morning. The matter was reported to the police and a case of damage to public property has been registered.
Recently,a water tank has been constructed in Dheerpur village. The same was to be inaugurated on Monday by Phillaur, who also represents Kartarpur Assembly constituency. But as he had to leave for some urgent work in Bathinda district, the inauguration was put off. The plaque, however, was installed at the site.
On Tuesday morning, when water supply employees went to the spot, they found the plaque dismantled and informed the matter to village sarpanch Lal Singh who in turn informed the police.
Kartarpur SHO Surinder Pal Singh said,The sarpanch does not suspect anyone. The matter is being investigated.
Earlier as well,a similar controversy had taken place in Phillaurs Tajpur village. Former SAD sarpanch,Ashok Kumar,a close confidant of Phillaur, got a plaque installed at the village school in Phillaurs name. While the plaque mentioned that the minister has inaugurated the project on July 20,he was not even in the village on the day to inaugurate the school building.
