Of the three who were detained for unruly behaviour on an Indigo flight, one has been arrested and the other two have been released. According to the police, the three passengers who were detained have been identified as Jitendra Kumar Mohla,Samir Uppal and Harpreet Anand. Jitendra has been arrested and a case registered against him under appropriate section of the law.
“It was Jitendra who created all the drama and threatened to hijack the plane. The other two were with him. Jitendra will be produced in a Dwarka court,” said a Delhi Police official.
On Sunday evening,Indigo flight E 664 made an emergency landing at the Delhi airport. Though initially the possibility of an hijack bid wasn’t ruled out,it was later confirmed that the landing took place due to unruly behaviour of a passenger.
After landing, the plane was taken into an isolation bay and passengers were forced to stay inside for over two hours. As soon as the plane landed,an anti-hijack committee of secretaries, chaired by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrashekar, met to assess the situation. After drawing up a strategy, the aircraft door was opened at 7.52 pm and five commandos sent inside. During this time, other aircraft parked near the Indigo plane were not allowed to move. This led to passengers of many incoming planes remaining inside their aircraft for hours and others, who were in buses to board planes, being stuck on apron for a long time.
