Majority of the over 120 children who went missing in the capital this year were girls with the north-east district topping the list.
The number of children going missing could rise over last year’s figure of 1,179 if one goes by the rate of such incidents this year.
A total of 123 children went missing this month out of which 64 were girls,a Delhi Police statistics said.
According to the figures,20 children went missing from North-East district followed by South-West and Outer districts at 18 each and East and West districts 15 each.
The figures for other districts were: South-East 9,North West 7,South 7,Central 5,New Delhi 4 and North 4. The Crime Branch also registered one case.
The maximum number of girls who went missing this year was from North-East district with 12 followed by East 11,Outer and West 9 each and South West 8.
Last year,North-West district had registered the highest number of children missing cases with 250 followed by South-West district 154 and East district 121.
Yesterday,parents of around 50 children who had gone missing in the past few years had approached Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta seeking better police intervention in their cases.
Gupta is understood to have assured them all help in tracing the children.
According to Delhi Police,24 minors,including a new-born baby,were found abandoned in the capital this month.
