On-the-run Akali leader’s kin urge him to surrender

Relatives of absconding Akali leader Dimpy Samra appealled to him to surrender.

Relatives of absconding Akali leader Dimpy Samra appealled to him to surrender. Samra was booked by the Faridkot Police for abducting a minor girl,along with Nishan Singh,Nishan’s mother Navjot Kaur and eight others.

Hoaever,Sarabjit Singh,Samra’s relative,said,“We do not know where they are. They have not tried to get in touch with any of us.”

The relatives appealed to all the accused to surrender to diffuse the unrest in Faridkot. The district is set for a bandh on Friday following a call given by the Goondagardi Virodhi Saanjhi action committee. The committee had given the police time till October 12 to recover the girl.

Tarun Arora,a senior member of the action committee,said,“Local schools have announced a holiday on Friday. Some government employees have assured participation in the bandh”.

NS Dhillon,Bathinda IG,visited the victim’s family on Wednesday. Ashwani Kumar Sachdeva,father of the abducted girl,said,“Dhillon assured us that he would bring back our daughter.”

2 cops investigating case transferred

The Home Ministry on Thursday transferred DIG PS Umranangal and SSP GS Dhillon. Both were investigating the kidnap case. “This is routine,” Dhillon said.
