Noted Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav on Friday said that there was nothing wrong in celebrities and film stars entering politics provided they were as commited to serving the people as to their professions.
I see no reason why film stars and cricketers should not join politics. People from all fields, including even industry and the media should be allowed to join politics and fight elections, Yadav told PTI in Islamabad.
The only condition should be that their commitment to political life must not be less than the dedication with which they pursue their careers, he said.
The actor, who has won critical as well as popular acclaim for his own brand of comedy,is attending a camp organised by his spiritual guru Dev Prabhakar Shastri Daddaji at the Magh Mela religious congregation in the vicinity of the holy Sangam.
Regarding Sanjay Dutt fighting the next Lok Sabha elections,he said there was nothing wrong in that either although Dutt had been convicted by a court in connection with a case following the serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993.
I cannot comment on the legal part of the issue. But,certainly,a person who has been fulfilling his duties as a good citizen for long and has never got involved in any scandal despite remaining constantly in the public eye, must not be considered an outcast just because something unfortunate happened 15-20 years ago, he said.
