The BJP on Thursday attacked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for criticising the government on the Naga accord, saying her party had reached “absolute bottom in its obstructionist politics”.

“On political issues, you are opposing the government. On economic issues, you are opposing. Today, on an issue of national security, you are opposing. Whose interest are you serving? The Congress has reached the absolute nadir, absolute bottom in their obstructionist politics,” Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

She claimed the Congress CMs of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh had welcomed the peace accord signed between government and the NSCN(IM), but were forced by the Congress leadership to delete their tweets.

She said the Centre had convened a meeting of all chief ministers linked to the accord, but the Congress CMs had boycotted it. She added that the party’s stand was “worrying” and it did not augur well for democracy.
