Four persons were detained — two each in Punjab and Gujarat — on Wednesday for their resemblance with the sketches of two suspects released by the NIA in connection with the Udhampur terror attack.
Amritsar Police detained two persons of Kashmiri origin from a dhaba near the railway station. The two were having dinner when locals alerted the police. DCP Parampal Singh said they were investigating the two.
In Gujarat’s Tapi, the Special Operation Group (SOG) picked up two persons but later let them off after nothing suspicious was found on them.
According to sources, the two brothers, also from Kashmir, were travelling in a train to Malegaon in Maharashtra. They were detained at Songadh after someone alerted the police. Sources said the two were found to be fruit sellers.
“They are brothers and their facial features were strikingly similar with the sketches,” a source said.
The NIA had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on information leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
