The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Saturday sought more time to file a chargesheet in the murder of Sunil Joshi, a right-wing activist shot dead in Dewas on December 29, 2007.
The agency said call detail records of Jitendra Sharma, vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s Indore (Rural) unit, proved he was in touch with Dilip Jagtap and Rajendra Chaudhary who are among the other accused.
Sharma, an advocate, was arrested two months ago from Mhow. He had given Jagtap, who has agreed to turn an approver in the case, a weapon used in the crime.
The NIA told a designated court in Bhopal it had recently procured the CDRs of Sharma and got them verified.
The Madhya Pradesh Police had probed the case and filed a chargesheet in 2011 before the probe was handed over to the NIA, which has sought several extensions to file its own chargesheet. The court gave it time till February 13.
Sharma’s advocate, meanwhile, has moved a bail application saying the agency has not been able to find anything concrete so far.
