Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday said Ayodhya dispute is a thing of past and Kalyan Singh’s induction into the party, along with his son Rajvir, would have no bearing on the Muslim vote bank of the party.
Speaking to the media at GSVM medical college in Kanpur,Yadav said the main issue before the people today is development and they will not be swayed by the politics of religion this time.
“People today have basic demands like roads, water, power and our Muslim brethren also long for such facilities,” he said when asked about Kalyan’s alleged involvement in the Babri mosque demolition.
He also dismissed the speculation that Kalyan’s entry into the SP fold would have any negative impact on the party’s alliance with the Congress.
Yadav further said his party would grant the father-son duo Lok Sabha ticket from the seat of their choice.
