Musical fest commences in Jammu and Kashmir

A five-day musical festival titled 'Jugalbandi-diffusion',in which over 100 artists from different regions of Jammu and Kashmir will perform live begins at Jammu's Abhinav theatre.

A five-day musical festival titled ‘Jugalbandi-diffusion’,in which over 100 artists from different regions of Jammu and Kashmir will perform live,is beginning on Monday at Abhinav theatre in Jammu.

Addressing a press conference in Jammu on Sunday,Director Door Darshan Kashmir,Rafeeq Masoodi said,”to celebrate the golden jubilee year of Doordarshan,DD Kashmir is bringing around 100 artists together to provide them a platform where they can interact and learn different art and music forms and to showcase the rich culture of Jammu and Kashmir in a blended form.”

He said,”The five-day festival will highlight the rich forms of light,folk,sufiyana and diffusion music of the state. At the same time it will open and showcase the talent of our artists to outside world and may provide a lifetime break to our musicians as several corporate houses from Mumbai including SAREGAMA are also expected to participate in the festival.”

Masoodi said similar musical concerts will be held both in Srinagar and Leh in July and August respectively.

The director also said that the main aim of these fests is to spread the message of communal harmony and brotherhood and “there cannot be any other medium better than music to foster unity and sense of togetherness among the people.”
