The suspected body remains of Sheena Bora, daughter of Indrani Mukerjea, were exhumed on Friday by the Mumbai Police.

Indrani allegedly strangled Sheena to death and dumped the body at Gogade Khurd. According to her driver, Indrani’s former husband Sanjeev Khanna helped her in disposing Sheena’s body.

The day before Sheena was allegedly strangled to death, Indrani and driver Shyam Rai conducted a physical reconnaissance of the route they would take for her kidnap and murder and scouted for a place to bury her body, the police said.

Indrani distanced herself from the crime and maintains that she is innocent, and that Sheena is living in the United States.

“We have been able to ascertain the motive behind the murder,” said Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria late tonight.
