Calling it a black day for Sikhs and most unfortunate for minorities,SAD (Delhi) president and former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) chief Paramjit Singh Sarna on Thursday condemned Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for welcoming the appointment Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as the head of BJPs campaign committee for the 2014 polls.
In a press statement,Sarna alleged: Modi stood against the minorities and has emerged as an enemy of minorities. He claimed that Badal and his deputy,Sukhbir Singh Badal, have proved that they are not serious about protecting the rights of Sikhs by supporting Modi, who had not only been allegedly a part of the genocide of Muslims during Gujarat riots but also played a vital role in protecting the guilty.
I do not know about the Sikhs of Punjab, but Sikhs in Delhi will not only oppose Modis appointment but also take their own decision to support which party in the Lok Sabha and Delhi Assembly elections, said Sarna, alleging that BJP had only one agenda Hindutva and saffronization of the country by eliminating other minorities.
India is a secular country, where Hindus and other minorities like Muslim,Sikhs,Christians,Jains,Buddhists and others live. If Modi becomes the head of this country, our nation will be in a new dilemma and his ideology will again raise issues like Ayodhaya Ram Mandir and others that may endanger its sovereignty, said Sarna.
