Three non-Manipuris, including two migrant labourers, were killed and four injured in a bomb blast Sunday at Thangmeiband in Imphal.
The explosion near ABC godown was the second in a week after an IED went off at Thangal Bazaar on December 15 killing two persons.
The police on Sunday said an IED was planted on the main road in front of a tea stall and the blast site was close to the main Khoyathong traffic island on one of the city’s arterial roads. According to eyewitnesses, the victims were having tea in morning when two women, carrying a make-up box, arrived at the stall.
They had tea and left the spot boarding a bus to Motbung. Soon after the bus left, there was an explosion at the tea stall. Those killed have been identified as Ram Krishna Das (50), Lalan (35) and Shiva Yadav (35), all from UP.
The four injured include three migrant labourers from Kushinagar — Ram Kumar (30), Liric (58) and Surendra (20). The other injured is C Lotha(50). The area where the blast took place is close to a locality having a large population of migrant labourers.
State Home Minister G Gaikhangam said that the government would provide adequate compensation to the victims.
