A man was injured as a tractor-trailer collided with a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing near Plasva village, some six kilometres south of Juangadh city, in Junagadh district early on Wednesday.
Junagadh taluka police said the incident took place at around 10:30 when Khijadiya-Junagadh local train was on its way to Junagadh. The train hit the tractor-trailer as tractor driver Yuvraj failed to clear the level-crossing on time.
“The tractor driver and another man sitting with him, who is identified as Sanjay Rathod (22), were thrown away from their vehicle under the impact of the collision. While Yuvraj escaped unhurt, Rathod sustained minor injuries. He was rushed to a government hospital in Junagadh by an ambulance of state emergency service,” Junagadh taluka police sub-inspector Shaktisinh Gohil told The Indian Express.
The PSI further said that the tractor trailer was not loaded nor were anybody else were travelling in it. After halting briefly, the train continued its journey towards Junagadh.
The Junagadh taluka police have transferred the case to railway police for further investigation.
