Man held for kidnapping 6-year-old in Moga

The Moga police on Sunday arrested a man for kidnapping a six-year-old boy from Ramganj on April 5.

The Moga police on Sunday arrested a man for kidnapping a six-year-old boy from Ramganj on April 5. The boy,Manjit Singh ‘Nikku’ — a resident of Sardar Nagar — was also recovered and handed over to his parents.

“The arrested person has been identified as Chalu Ram of Kothan Marhian in Partapgarh (Uttar Pradesh),who was also a sorcerer,” SHO Ravinder Singh of South City police station said.

After the boy went missing on April 5,his father Ramesh Kumar lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Nikku had gone to the aaganwari centre but did not return.

“Chalu Ram had bought a railway ticket for Ludhiana from Moga railway station. But when he reached near Mullanpur Dakha with Nikku,the boy started weeping. Suspicious,passers-by started beating him up and called the police,” SHO Ravinder Singh said.
