A special court in Goa rejected the bail application filed by former State PWD Minister Churchill Alemao on Monday. Alemao was arrested by the Goa police on August 6 for his alleged involvement in the Louis Berger bribery case.
On July 21, the Crime Branch had registered an FIR against unknown ministers in the then Congress government in Goa in 2010 and company officials. Besides Alemao, former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat is also under the scanner.
The district court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Kamat. Alemao, who moved the fresh bail plea last week, had argued that there should be parity in justice as he was facing the same charges as Kamat.
Alemao is booked under IPC section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and sections 7, 8, 9 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the case, which allegedly took place when he was PWD minister.
