Lokayukta should be free from vendetta politics: Ajay Maken

Ajay Maken reiterates that Congress is in favour of any kind of probe under the Lokayukta.

Congress general secretary Ajay Maken on Tuesday said that the Congress party was in favour of any kind of probe into corruption cases. However, fielding questions by the media on the Lokayukta, he clarifed that any probe initiated through the body Lokayukta should ensure first look at two things: “Is it a political vendetta? If it follows the guidelines mandated by the Constitution.”

The Congress leader said CBI’s powers will also come under the purview of the Lokayukta and if any person is found guilty of misconduct, they will be punished. But he said the Congress was against any kind of threat regarding probes. On the bills pending before the Parliament he said: “To get the bills passed we always meet the opposition members…we want six anti-corruption bills pending in Lok and Rajya Sabha passed.
