Kerala youth beaten to death in shocking case of moral policing

A local resident saw the youth going to the house of a women late Thursday night and raised an alarm.

A youth was beaten to death in Kerala’s Thrissur district by a mob after he was found in the house of a woman. Initial probe indicated that the murder was an outcome of moral policing.

Police identified the victim as P Savahir, 27, a native of Chavakkad in Thrissur.

Police said that on Thursday late night, Savahir went to the house of a woman whom he knew very well. The woman’s sister and their mother are also living in the same house.

When a person residing in the vicinity saw Savahir going to the woman’s house, he raised an alarm. Subsequently, several persons, including the relatives of the woman, gathered there. The mob questioned Savahir and brutally attacked him. Later, a few local persons rushed Savahir to a hospital, but he died in the wee hours of Friday.
