The CPI (M)-led Opposition on Wednesday staged a walk out from the Assembly after the Speaker denied permission for an adjournment motion on the hummer horror case.
While seeking permission for the adjournment motion, CPI (M) legislator Babu M Palissery said the leaders of the ruling front had tried to shield businessman Muhammed Nisham, who had hit a security guard with hummer.
He said the Thrissur district Congress committee president Abdurahiman and Congress legislator P A Madhavan had close links with Nisham. While the alleged accused was taken to Bangalore as part of investigation, there were attempts to sabotage the case. The police did not bother to record the statement of the victim, before he died. His blood-stained uniform, which would have been crucial evidence, was destroyed, said the legislator.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy took strong exception to Government Chief Whip P C George’s allegation against DGP K S Balasubramaniam. George had alleged that the DGP had tried to interfere in the probe to help Nisham. While remaining with the government as its chief whip, George cannot embarrass the government or object its policies, said Chandy.
