Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has ordered an investigation into an encounter in which five alleged SIMI activists were shot dead by a Warangal police armed reserve escort party near Alair in Nalgonda district on April 7. The probe will be conducted by a special investigation team.
The CM has instructed Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to issue orders on Monday morning, appointing the Special Investigating Team. Rao has taken the decision keeping in view the doubts expressed by certain organisations and some individuals on the encounter, an official said.
The five alleged SIMI men — Vikaruddin Ahmad, Syed Amjad, Izrar Khan, Dr Mohammed Hanif Khan, and Mohammed Zakir — were shot dead on April 7 while being brought from Warangal prison to a Hyderabad court.
