J-K to ensure complete ban on polythene carry bags

'J-K govt will ensure complete ban on polythene carry bags which are creating hurdles in drainage and sewerage system and also affecting environment.'

Jammu and Kashmir government will ensure complete ban on polythene carry bags which are creating hurdles in drainage and sewerage system and also affecting environment and ecology,Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand on Wednesday said here.

Chand asked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to intensify the drive against polythene and ensure that polythene carry bags are not being used in the city.

The deputy chief minister,during a tour of Dal Lake,said the drive launched earlier by the Corporation had achieved good results and even in rural areas polythene bags were not available.

He stressed the need for conducting awareness camps and seminars and involve the student community to ban the use of polythene bags.
