JD(U) leader and former minister Shakuni Choudhary on Tuesday said that former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar should “quit politics than being insulted by RJD chief Lalu Prasad”.
The Kushwaha leader, who recently crossed over to the JD (U) from the RJD, was referring to Lalu Prasad’s remarks of “keeping his younger brother (Nitish) on his lap” during the just-concluded campaign for the bypolls in the 10 Assembly seats.
“I am dismayed at Lalu Prasad making fun of former CM Nitish Kumar. Lalu often says since Nitish has fallen on his lap and feet, he cannot dump him. Nitish should quit politics than face such humiliation,” Choudhary said. He also said that he did not consider both Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar as his leaders.
Choudhary’s son Samrat Choudhary, who is urban development minister in Jeetan Ram Manjhi government in the state, however, disowned it saying it was his father’s “personal remarks”.
JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav, meanwhile, said that he would speak to Shakuni Choudhary.
In another related development, JD(U) MLA from Islampur (Nalanda), Rajiv Ranjan, took on his own government alleging “unabated corruption and almost fixed rate of commission by officials of several departments”.
“It is time the state government changed the Right to Public Services Act to right to bribe Act,” he told The Indian Express.
