Jandiali school mishap: Driver had no license

The condition of five children admitted to two hospitals was reported to be stable.

A day after he was arrested for ramming the truck he was driving into the boundary wall of a school,killing two students and injuring five,the driver,Lakhvir Singh,told the police that he jumped the divider and lost control of vehicle trying to save some children who had come in front of his vehicle all of a sudden.

Lakhvir,who has been booked for murder,was produced in a local court here,which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lakhvir did not even have a driving licence,but had been driving the truck for the last one year,Ramgarh Chowki in-charge,Paramjeet Singh,said. “He had never taken any formal training from any driving school,” the police official said,adding that Lakhvir is 22 years old.

Meanwhile,the condition of five children admitted to two hospitals was reported to be stable.

On Friday,the truck after jumping the road divider had crashed through boundary wall of the Government Primary School at Jandiali village,on the other side of the road and hit eight students.
