Jakhar seeks info on school funds

Reacting to reports regarding delay in releasing funds to government and government-aided schools,CLP leader and leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar today dared the government in Punjab to come out with details of funds allocated so far.

Quoting a Union Ministry of Human Resources letter dated April 18,2013,he said that Rs 5,136 lakh was released,of which the state government was required to contribute Rs 1,426 lakh. Jakhar said the funds received from the central government were being misused by the Punjab government for other purposes,including Sangat Darshans by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

“Since Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal claims that the state exchequer is not under crisis,let him ensure immediate release funds for the midday meal scheme. Till today the state govt had not provided funds to aided schools to purchase utensils for cooking and kitchens too have to be constructed.”

Jakhar also demanded a white paper on utilisation of funds during the preceding years.
