Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi Sunday reached out to schoolgoers at the Children Science Congress by focusing on issues that concerned them the most—homework, sleep and food habits.
Speaking at MMRDA grounds, the founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan urged children to ensure women’s safety and discard caste distinction. “I am noticing a crisis—intolerance in children and youth is rising. In a competitive world, there is more pressure to perform,” he said, adding that while parents should encourage children to learn and explore, they must also focus on teaching them honesty and make them aware about issues like child labour.
He added: “My friends in other countries tell me Indians are intelligent and hardworking. Indians are doing well in fields like medical science, IT, and space science.
