Indonesian delivers child mid-air,flight diverted to Mumbai

A Colombo-bound Sri Lankan Airline flight from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) was diverted to Mumbai on Wednesday morning after a passenger on-board delivered a baby.

A Colombo-bound Sri Lankan Airline flight from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) was diverted to Mumbai on Wednesday morning after a passenger on-board delivered a baby in the aircraft’s toilet.

Thirty-three year-old Indonesian national,Mursani BT Selania delivered a baby boy in the toilet on-board the Dammam-Colombo flight (UL-264) early this morning,a Mumbai International Airport Limited spokesperson said.

Consequently,the flight was diverted to Mumbai to provide medical aid to the mother and the new-born,the spokesperson said.

No doctor was available at the time of delivery and the flight-crew helped the lady,he said.
