India weather report,January 13

Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir; isolated places in Uttarakhand,Punjab,Himachal Pradesh and mainly dry in Uttar Pradesh,Haryana and Rajasthan.

Forecast valid until the morning of Jan 15th. Rain/thundershowers at:

East: Mainly dry.

North: A few places in Jammu and Kashmir; isolated places in Uttarakhand,Punjab,Himachal Pradesh and mainly dry in Uttar Pradesh,Haryana and Rajasthan.

Central: Mainly dry.

Peninsula: Isolated places in south Tamil Nadu and mainly dry in Gujarat state,Konkan,Goa,Madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Andhra Pradesh,north Tamil Nadu,Karnataka and Kerala.

Islands: Mainly dry.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolitan centres were:

Kolkata max 27 ( n ) d c min 16 (+2 ) d c

New Delhi max 21 ( n ) d c min 05 (-2 ) d c

Chennai max 30 (+1 ) d c min 22 (+2 ) d c

Mumbai max 33 (+4 ) d c min 20 (+1 ) d c.

A western disturbance as an upper air system extending upto 4.5 kms a.s.l. lies over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. The cyclonic circulation over Uttarkhand and neighbourhood now lies between 2.1 and 4.5 kms a.s.l.

The above two systems are likely to move eastnortheastwards. The cyclonic circulation over north Maharashtra and adjoining south Gujarat region persists and now extends upto 1.5 kms a.s.l. The trough of low at sea level over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts has become less marked. The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood has moved away northeastwards.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh,Punjab and of north interior Karnataka and were below normal in some parts of Haryana,Rajasthan,Tamil Nadu and of south interior Karnataka.

They were appreciably to markedly above normal in Tripura,Madhya Pradesh,Gujarat state,north Madhya Maharashtra and in some parts of Uttarkhand,Himachal Pradesh,Marathwada,Vidarbha and of Chattisgarh and in remaining parts of Rajasthan and were above normal in some parts of Assam,Meghalaya,West Bengal,Sikkim,Orissa,Jharkhand,west Uttar Pradesh,Konkan,Goa,south Madhya Maharashtra,coastal Andhra Pradesh and of Telangana.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Realised rainfall and chief amounts in cms during past 24 hours at;

East,North,Central,Peninsula and Islands: were mainly dry.
