Referring to firing by Pakistan at various points on the LoC and the International Border, Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley Sunday said the Indian armed forces were taking adequate and necessary steps to respond to the attacks.
“I had said yesterday and (I am) repeating it today that there have been a series of provocations in the last few days by the Pakistani army. But our armed forces at the LoC and the BSF at the International Border are fully protecting both our territory and our people. Whatever response that needs to be taken are being adequately taken by them,” Jaitley told reporters on the sidelines of an event held to inaugurate a management institute here.
The event was also attended by President Pranab Mukherjee. The remarks of the Defence minister came as Pakistan troops continued shelling at 25 border outposts and 19 villages along the International Border in RS Pura and Arnia sub-sectors of Jammu. The BSF retaliated with firing which continued till 7.30 am Sunday. However, there have been no reports of injury or loss of human lives in Sunday night’s attack.
