A young woman was arrested by the Haryana Police on Wednesday for allegedly committing a murderous assault on her employer’s wife in Sonepat. The accused,Manju,was produced in court from where she was sent to judicial custody for allegedly attacking employer Joginder’s wife Satyawati (37).
The knife reportedly used in the murderous assault and the scooter used by the accused to escape the scene of crime were also recovered by the police. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in Sector 23,Sonepat,when Satyawati was alone at her residence. Manju reached Satyawati’s house and gained access by introducing herself as Satyawati’s daughter Yogita’s friend.
“While interacting with Satyawati,Manju told her that she had organised a Jagran at her residence,in the same sector,and had come to invite her (victim) and her family members. As soon as Satyawati got up to get Manju a glass of water,the accused stabbed her with a knife and fled the spot. On hearing Satyawati’s plea for help,her neighbours rushed her to a hospital. Satyawati survived the injuries. Police immediately reached the scene of crime and initiated investigations. While questioning Satyawati’s family members,including her husband,Joginder,Manju emerged as a prime suspect and so we nabbed her,” one of the investigating police officers said.
“Manju’s preliminary interrogation revealed that she had developed an illicit relationship with Joginder. She wanted to marry him and usurp his property. In order to get rid of Satyawati,Manju planned the gruesome attack. Joginder runs a travel agency in Sonepat,and Manju and her brother are Joginder’s employees,” Sonepat district police spokesperson said.
Manju hails from Panipat and had been working with Joginder for the past several months.
