He may be a greenhorn so far as his forays into active political scene is concerned but Dushyant Chautala surely has four generations of political blood flowing in his veins. The elder son of jailed INLD leader Ajay Chautala, speaks like a veteran,as he takes command of the main opposition party in Haryana in absence of his father and grandfather (former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala) in efforts to consolidate the traditional rural vote bank by planning a series of meetings in the villages to expose the illegal land deals of the ruling Congress.

“We have enough to expose the government on alleged land deals, especially those which were done to favour Robert Vadra,son-in-law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi,” Dushyant, who did his schooling from Lawrence School,Sanawar, and graduation from California told The Indian Express.

“As far as the Vadra’s deals are concerned,my grandfather had released some documents exposing the (Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led) government. The quid pro quo behind these deals is also evident as certain deals were done with a Congress MLA who was promised a cabinet berth,” Dushyant added.

The Chautala scion has a big task and a hectic schedule ahead as he is all set to “get a clean chit for his father and grand father from the general public’.

“The Chief Minister says that he does not need a certificate from anyone. But we certainly need a certificate from the general public and we will make every effort to obtain it. Even if that means going to jail,” the young leader said.

He seemed undeterred by the adverse publicity over the arrest of his father and grand father in the JIBT recruitment scam.

“Less than 5 per cent people form their opinions based on the so-called adverse publicity. Rest of the people judge their leaders on their performance. My father and grandfather have been jailed for giving jobs. We tell people that only two (from the family) have gone to jail, you elect us and we will again give jobs and go to jail,” Dushyant said.

He added that even the ruling government conceded the fact that the then INLD government gave more than 3200 jobs to the general public.

“What has this government done apart from doling out jobs to its favourites and relatives, allotted land or manipulated deals for those who paid them huge bribes or political favours. They virtually sold the state to keep their position intact. Otherwise the Congress would have been kicked out for such corruption and nepotism,” he added.

Dushyant parried a query on the INLD’s dismal performance in the municipal elections saying: “We wanted to prove a point that we exist in the urban areas as well and the same has been proven. We have learnt a few lessons from the results and we will further improve on our performance.”
