The Haryana government will bear the total expenditure for providing electricity connections to all the dhanis in the state,Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced at a rally in Sirsa on Sunday. He added that it was the state governments responsibility to provide electricity connections free of cost to such households.
Hooda was addressing the ‘Vishal Karyakarta Sammelan organised by MP Ashok Tanwar at Sirsa. The decision is expected to benefit around 45,700 dhanis in the state. Residents in dhanis were earlier expected to bear 50 per cent of the power costs which the government then reduced to 5 per cent. With the announcement,however,such people will no longer be required to pay for an electricity connection.
The chief minister also announced the governments decision to set up a DIET centre in Sirsa,the construction of a new building in the Government Women College and repair of all roads in the district. The state government is ready to give its share for the construction of an overbridge in Dabwali and the matter is being taken up with the Centre. About 3,800 houses will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 100 crore under the Rajiv Awas Yojna in the district, Hooda said.
He also used the opportunity to speak on the benefits of the Food Security Ordinance. Under this ordinance,rice,wheat and cereals will be given to 82 crore beneficiaries at a rate of Rs 3,Rs 2 and Re 1 respectively. In Haryana,about 1.30 crore people would be covered under this scheme. The state government will launch this ambitious scheme on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on August 20. Apart from this,the state government had also decided to provide 2.5 kilogram pulses per month at the subsidised rate of Rs 20 per kilogram to about 12.84 lakh BPL families under the Dal-Roti scheme. Under Priyadarshini Awas Yojna,3.5 lakh houses would be provided in rural and urban areas. For this,provision of Rs.1350 crore had been made in the budget, the chief minister said.
AICC General Secretary and Incharge of Haryana Affairs,Shakeel Ahmed who was also present on the occasion,said: Development in Haryana under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda would be written in golden letters. Dr Tanwar is also performing well in the organization. His performance is visible from massive presence of party workers in Sammelan.
He also warned detractors of the chief minister from airing their views in public. The party shall not tolerate any kind of statements against the party in media and action would be taken against such leaders. I have already asked State Party Chief Phool Chand Mullana to constitute Disciplinary Committees,,Shakeel Ahmed said.
