The Haryana government will bear the total expenditure for providing electricity connections to all the dhanis in the state,Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced at a rally in Sirsa on Sunday. He added that it was the state government’s responsibility to provide electricity connections free of cost to such households.

Hooda was addressing the ‘Vishal Karyakarta Sammelan’ organised by MP Ashok Tanwar at Sirsa. The decision is expected to benefit around 45,700 dhanis in the state. Residents in dhanis were earlier expected to bear 50 per cent of the power costs which the government then reduced to 5 per cent. With the announcement, however, such people will no longer be required to pay for an electricity connection.
