The Himachal Pardesh Assembly was adjourned on Friday after a scuffle broke out between the opposition and ruling party members who came to near-blows in the House. Opposition members led by former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal entered the well of the House.

Pandemonium broke out when BJP MLA Randhir Sharma and Congress’ Neeraj Bharti came close to near blows even as other members intervened to avert escalation of the clash.

Following this, the Speaker adjourned the House but the BJP members refused to leave and kept raising slogans and trooped in the well of the House .

Protests and sloganeering began in the House after Speaker B B L Butail disallowed BJP MLA Govind Thakur to raise an issue of violence at a government college in Sanjauli few days ago. Principal of the college was hurt in the incident.

Thakur was joined by his colleague Satpal Satti who attacked chief parliamentary secretary Neeraj Bharati for making derogatory remarks against the BJP and some party leaders .

Satpal Satti, who is also the state BJP president, tried to hand over some papers to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who tore it away. Satti continued to show more papers to the CM in a fit of anger.
