The bail plea of Nupur Talwar was rejected by the Allahabad High Court on Thursday.
Rejecting the bail petition,a single judge bench of Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi said the petitioner had not been able to prove that she was not involved in the offence.
The court also agreed with the contention of the CBI,that instead of helping the prosecution, the petitioner had been trying to mislead the court.
CBI counsel Anurag Khanna said,Our contention was that the petitioner had been trying to get legal relief by giving misleading information to the court.
Nupur, along with her husband Rajesh Talwar,is facing charges of murder and destruction of evidence. She and her husband are accused of murdering their daughter Arushi and domestic help Hemraj in their Noida residence on May 16,2008.
Nupurs counsel V P Srivastava had contended last week that the CBI had no evidence against her. He had argued that the CBI had filed a closure report saying it did not have evidence to link the petitioner to the crime. However, the court rejected the contention of the defence counsel.
Nupur had surrendered before a Ghaziabad court on April 30.
In December 2010,CBI had filed a closure report before the Ghaziabad court. It had said there was no direct evidence to link the Talwars to the murder but there was suspicion that they could be involved. The court refused to accept the closure report and directed the CBI to conduct further investigation. The Talwars sought legal relief from the Supreme Court, but were told to face trial.
